Getting Around
St. Augustine is over 400 years old. The streets in the historical district are narrow. Some are still paved with brick. St. George Street, a block west of the Castillo, is a pedestrian only street.
Street parking is limited, and although there are a few metered parking lots scattered through the downtown (including at the Castillo), walking is the best way to visit the historic district which is about one mile long by 1/2 mile wide.
Long term (all day) parking is available for a fee behind the Visitor Information Center which is located on the corner of West Castillo and South Castillo Drives, across from the Castillo headquarters building.
