Hermit Crabs are a common find in the shallow waters of Cape Hatteras's shoreline. . Cape Hatteras National Seashore has many activities designed especially for kids. Check-out the park schedule for "Especially for Kids" programs available at Bodie Island, Cape Hatteras, and Ocracoke Visitor Centers. Seas-life printing, stories of pirates, evening campfires on the beach, "fish with a ranger" and "turtle talks" are some of the favorites.

Junior Ranger Program

 The Seashore offers a "Ranger Patch Program" available to all children. Just pick up a free booklet at any park visitor center and complete the activities inside. Participants will also need to attend at least two ranger-led activities. Once completed, turn your booklet into a ranger at the visitor centers and receive your free ranger patch!
