Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site

A 1/4 mile walk down the trail will bring you to the gate of the fort. Inside you can view the 20 minute documentary film, "Castle of the Plains". Self-guided tours and the film are available throughout the year. Living history interpreters provide guided tours and demonstrations June 1 through Labor Day. Guided tours are available September through May at 10:30 am and 1:00 pm. Organized groups are available by reservation. Special Events for 2004 include Kid's Quarters (for 7-11 year olds who have pre-registered)(June 12), Santa Fe Trail Encampment (July 30 - August 1) and the Traditional Holiday Celebration (December 3-4). The trade room and bookstore offer fur trade and park related books and historically authentic reproduction trade goods for sale.
