Andrew Johnson National Historic Site
The president's Homestead which is normally open for free tours; will be closed for approximately 3 - 4 months during 2004 for major rehabilitation work. This rehabilitation is scheduled to begin in the summer and end in early fall. If this is an important part of your itinerary, then you should call (423)639-3711 extension "0" to find out if the Homestead is closed or not, just before your visit.
Tours of the Andrew Johnson Homestead are given hourly on the half-hour beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m. There is not a 12:30 p.m. tour. Tickets are required and are obtained at the Visitor Center up to 15 minutes prior to the tour. There is no charge.
Special events include Memorial Day Program on May 30th of each year, commemorative birthday program on December 29th, and Constitution Day program on September 17th.
